Honeywell Home evohome has been named Heating Product of the Year at the ASCP Awards 2026, recognising its contribution to supporting the evolving needs of the UK’s social housing and retrofit sectors.
The award highlights how effective heating controls can help housing associations optimise energy use, support retrofit programmes and give residents greater control over their comfort.
Smarter room-by-room control
Honeywell Home evohome allows residents to control the temperature and schedule of individual rooms across up to 12 heating zones. This means they can heat the rooms they use, when they use them, rather than treating the entire property as a single zone.
For housing providers, this targeted approach can help reduce unnecessary energy consumption while maintaining comfortable temperatures for residents.
Supporting SAP point uplift
evohome is listed on the Product Characteristics Database as a recognised Time and Temperature Zone Control, or TTZC, measure. It can therefore help contribute to improvements in a property’s SAP score.
Evidence included in the award entry featured a 10-property pilot programme. The housing provider reported SAP uplifts of between one and three points per property, alongside annual fuel-cost savings through improved heating control.
As a recognised TTZC measure, evohome may also be considered under programmes such as the Warm Homes Social Housing Fund, subject to the relevant programme criteria and assessment.
Practical for retrofit programmes
Designed for existing radiators, evohome provides a practical retrofit solution that can create up to 12 independent heating zones, plus one hot-water zone, without requiring extensive alterations to pipework.
The system is compatible with traditional gas boilers and heat pumps, making it suitable for a range of housing types and heating strategies. It can also be installed with minimal disruption to residents.

Greater control for residents
Unlike some connected home technologies, the Honeywell Home evohome system does not rely on Wi Fi to operate. evohome communicates using its own dedicated frequency, meaning heating schedules and room-by-room control continue to function without an internet connection; Wi Fi is only required for remote access via the app. This can make evohome particularly suitable for a wide range of social housing properties where broadband availability or connectivity may vary.
Supporting healthier homes
The award also comes at a time when social landlords are preparing for Phase 2 of Awaab’s Law. From 30 November 2026, its scope is due to extend to additional hazards, including excess cold and excess heat. Government guidance states that cases should be assessed individually, taking account of the property, the severity of the hazard and the resident’s circumstances.
By enabling individual rooms to be monitored and controlled independently, evohome can support more consistent temperature management and help reduce the risk of rooms becoming excessively cold. Maintaining appropriate temperatures may also help limit condensation and the conditions associated with damp and mould*
Smart heating controls should form part of a wider approach that considers heating provision, insulation, ventilation, building fabric and residents’ individual circumstances. They do not replace a landlord’s responsibility to investigate hazards and complete the necessary remedial work.
By combining room-by-room heating control, retrofit suitability and recognised SAP point uplift opportunities, Honeywell Home evohome offers social housing providers a practical way to support preventative housing strategies and healthier homes.
