The word ‘social’ in the term ‘social housing’ is apt, because housing (or lack thereof!) affects a society in myriad ways.

There are more than 1 million people on council housing waiting lists in England and around 125,000 children in temporary or unacceptable accommodation. Thousands of children are living in homeless families, trapped in unsuitable temporary accommodation, with little to no chance of enjoying security and finding something permanent to call home.

These people are in urgent need of long-term, secure, safe and affordable accommodation NOW.

In the September 2019 HA Magazine

In this latest issue we speak with the people who want to do something about it; hearing from George Clarke, who is urging parliament to build 100,000 new council houses every year for 30 years, Age UK and Habinteg who are calling for all new homes to be built to higher accessibility standards, as well as delving into the concept of co-housing and how it can assist in creating healthy living environments.

Alongside this are the latest technical innovations within the housing sector, that equip specifiers with the tools and information needed to tackle the challenges our country faces head on.

Engage and enjoy.
