Sustainable showering made simple

Submitted by Kate on

As housing providers across the UK rise to the challenge of meeting energy efficiency targets, achieving net-zero goals and reducing tenant energy bills, one solution stands out for its simplicity, impact, and long-term value: Waste Water Heat Recovery Systems (WWHRS).

Showersave, the market leader provide a diverse product range of WWHRS that integrate effortlessly into any bathroom or shower room—with no disruption to existing layouts. Whether it’s new-build social housing, apartments, or large-scale refurbishments, Showersave provides a proven route to lower carbon emissions, improved EPC ratings and significantly reduced energy costs for tenants. In addition Showersave has undertaken energy monitoring trials to demonstrate the increased performance of heat pumps when used alongside waste water heat recovery.  Not only is the heat pump system efficiency improved but bills are lowered by up to £179 per household as a result of having a Showersave fitted.

What Is Waste Water Heat Recovery?
WWHR is a simple yet highly effective technology that captures the heat from warm waste water (used during a shower) and uses it to pre-warm the incoming cold water feed to the shower or boiler. This reduces by up to 50% the amount of energy required to heat water, leading to lower energy consumption, reduced CO₂ emissions, and more efficient homes—without changing how tenants use their showers.

Fully Compliant, Independently Certified
Showersave’s systems are double-walled for complete protection against water contamination. Each product is tested and certified under the KIWA UK Regulation 4 Product Approval Scheme (KUKreg4) and holds WRAS certification—ensuring full compliance with UK water regulations and safety standards.

QB1-21XE:

The QB1-21XE is trusted by housing developers and associations to deliver real-world results in both residential and commercial environments.

Showersave Blue QB1-21:
Ideal for Apartments and Bungalows
When gravity-fed systems aren’t an option—such as in apartments or single-storey homes—the Blue QB1-21 offers an innovative solution. Using a Whale diaphragm pump (originally engineered for the marine sector), the system lifts waste water to the top of the vertical heat exchanger, making it perfect for use over baths, shower trays or wet rooms.
