Rapierstar has launched the STARFIX PFT, a new button-head version of its market-leading plug-free masonry screw, offering faster and higher-quality installation of PVCu and timber window and door frames.

Evolving from the trusted STARFIX FFT, the PFT is a through-anchor fixing designed to interlock directly into masonry and typical concrete substrates after drilling a pilot hole. It maintains the FFT’s twin hi-lo 7.5mm nominal diameter thread, which aggressively cuts into the base material for maximum grip while efficiently reducing insertion torque and clearing dust. This results in improved load distribution, reduced risk of radial cracking, and quicker, more secure installation.
What sets the PFT apart is its innovative button head. A low-profile Torx (T30) six-lobe socket and a flat underside deliver a broad bearing surface that distributes load evenly, particularly beneficial when fixing into softer materials like wood. The silver-finish head also provides a smart, professional, maintenance free, look without needing plastic cover caps, enhancing aesthetics where minimal protrusion is desired.
Manufactured from high-grade carbon steel with a corrosion-resistant clear zinc coating, the STARFIX PFT is built for durability. The T30 Torx drive ensures optimal torque transfer, minimising cam-out, reducing screw head damage, and extending tool and driver bit life—key benefits for installers and maintenance teams.
Andy Holland, Technical & Marketing Manager at Rapierstar, said: “When we launched STARFIX FFT, it transformed window and door installation by removing the need for plugs or sleeves. The new PFT builds on that success, adding further technical and aesthetic advantages. Feedback from early adopters has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Supported by Rapierstar’s in-house design and testing expertise at its Cheshire-based technical centre, the STARFIX PFT meets the needs of modern installers with a fast, reliable, and visually discreet fixing.
STARFIX screws are suitable for a wide range of substrates, including brick, concrete, blockwork, and timber. With the PFT covering most standard frame fixing requirements and the FFT available for heavier-duty applications, STARFIX delivers flexible, multi-material solutions that save time on site and simplify inventory.
