Robinson House Care Home is being newly decorated as part of an ongoing focus on improving our care homes, to create spaces that really feel like home for residents.
The refurbishment project has seen the redecorating of all 70 bedrooms in the home, with new carpets and furniture, and new front doors for every room. Each house has a unique colour scheme, complete with patterned soft furnishings that are designed to create a comfortable and homely environment.

The designs for the rooms were developed in partnership with Furncare, who specialise in care home furniture and interiors, with decorating being completed by Robinson House’s handyman, Alan, who has worked at the home for over 30 years. Four colour schemes were created as part of the project and residents were given the opportunity to provide feedback on the schemes to ensure the interiors of the home reflect what they liked the most.
In addition to the interiors, the refurbishment will extend throughout the remainder of 2026 to include updated communal areas and kitchenettes, new fire doors, heating systems, and the installation of an updated nurse call system.
Speaking on the project, Home Manager Denise Mackereth said: “The upgrades we’ve made to Robinson House will make such a difference to the home. We are dedicated to continually improving our home to make it as comfortable and welcoming as possible for residents, and the updated rooms have already made a big impact. Residents are telling us how happy they are in their rooms and are looking forward to seeing the new communal areas and kitchenettes. We’ve ensured residents, family members and colleagues are included in the decision-making and we keep them updated on progress every step of the way.”
The refurbishment is due to be completed in early 2027, when the Robinson House team are due to celebrate with a grand unveiling party for residents, relatives and guests.
